TONY PHILLIPS AND SARAH BRIGHT-PHILLIPS
Tony Phillips and Sarah Bright-Phillips manage the day to day operations of
Blackberry Ridge Farm. Both have been involved with horses from an early
age: Tony, under the expert tutelage of Maggie Spreckley Dollard (reknowned
stallion manager and breeder) in his native England and Sarah, under the
expert tutelage of her mom, Dana Bright (current combined driving competitor
as well as technical delegate and judge) in her native Pennsylvania.
Tony dedicated himself to horses at the age of eleven when he came onto
Maggie's yard. In his early 20's he came to the U.S. where he eventually
owned and operated Red Ridge Farm, which enjoyed a fantastic reputation both
within and without the Irish Draught community.
Sarah grew up in Pony Club, fox hunting and eventing as well as grooming for
her mom's Welsh pony stallion as he successfully competed through the
advanced level of combined driving. After completing a degree in French and
Philosophy Sarah returned to horses full time.
Over the past few years Tony and Sarah have worked with Tracy and Debbie to
lay a solid foundation at Blackberry Ridge Farm. Combining their knowledge
and experience, first priority is superior daily care for all horses on the
farm. Next is a dedication to correct and meticulous turnout and
presentation. Lastly, Tony and Sarah work side by side from the first days
on the lunge to advantage every horse with the best training possible, from
hacking out to schooling over fences. For Tony and Sarah commitment to excellence and the imperative to always do
what's best for the horse makes their sum greater than the parts.
